Best Paramount Plus Movies
Looking for what to watch over the weekend, take a look at this selection of Paramount films.
Saturday Fever Continues
This film was a huge box office success in 1983. However, it is widely criticized as one of the worst sequels of all time.
The lack of originality, a superficial script, the absence of main characters and inferior music are some of the reasons why the film was not as captivating as the first.
The Fly 2
The Fly 2 is also considered one of the worst sequels. Even more so when we analyze innovation, script and the excessive and unrealistic amount of special effects.
Additionally, the lack of scares and tension disappointed many viewers. All of this contributed to an unsatisfactory experience for fans of the franchise.
Home Alone 3
Due to the absence of the original cast, one-dimensional characters and weak script, the film Home Alone 3 had difficulty connecting with the public.
Furthermore, the change in direction resulted in a less captivating film for the sequel.
Even more so with the inclusion of violent scenes, which made the plot less appropriate for children, who were the target audience of the previous films.
Back to Lagoa Azul
Back to the Blue Lagoon the true disastrous sequel.
Released in 1991 as a sequel to the classic The Blue Lagoon, the film is criticized mainly for the lack of chemistry between the characters.
This romantic chemistry is completely absent in the sequel, which takes away the emotion that captivated the audience in the first film.
The Exorcist II
Another one for the list of the worst sequels of all time. Its release was four years after the original and its reviews talk about the disrespect for the original film.
Furthermore, the plot features a confusing script, weak acting and questionable special effects. The sequel failed to capture the expected horror and suspense.
The Hangover III
Despite the success of the first film, The Hangover III was heavily criticized for its forced humor and predictable script.
The plot told an emotionless and unengaging story.
Furthermore, the attempt to add a darker tone to the film did not work, leaving the feeling that the story does not fit into the Hangover franchise.
Entering an Even Bigger Cold with the Family
Entering a Bigger Cold Even with the Family also received several reviews as one of the worst film sequences ever made.
Released in 2010, the third film in the Entering a Cold franchise fails to deliver an original story.
This is because it presents weak humor, unconvincing acting and a lack of chemistry between the characters.
The film leaves the feeling of being unnecessary, without bringing anything new to the plot.
Scary Movie 5
The film fails to bring originality to the Scary Movie franchise, damaging the audience's experience.
With weak humor and forced scenes, the performances of the main cast, which includes Ashley Tisdale and Charlie Sheen, are not convincing.
Likewise, the plot lacks cohesion. Which makes the film seem like a set of disconnected scenes.
Mortal Kombat 2: Annihilation
Get ready for a cinematic fatality! First of all, the 1997 film left something to be desired in several aspects.
Such as, for example, the confusing plot, weak acting, dated special effects and lack of fidelity to the original video game.
Despite having well-known names like Robin Shou and Talisa Soto, the cast failed to bring the characters to life.
In short, and to make matters worse, the film's confusing and disorganized plot, with many characters and subplots, makes it difficult for the viewer to follow the story.
Basic Instinct 2
Finally, Basic Instinct 2 is considered yet another example of how a poorly executed sequel can destroy the reputation of a successful film.
In other words, the confusing and unengaging plot, shallow characters and the lack of chemistry between the main actors were just some of the film's flaws.
Furthermore, the forced nudity and sex scenes added nothing to the plot. The action and suspense scenes also did not meet expectations.
Why were these films considered failures?
The worst movie sequels are considered failures for a variety of reasons.
But they were generally poorly received by fans and critics for failing to capture the essence of the first films. As well as having other characteristics, such as:
- Lack of originality: many of these sequels followed the same formula as the original film, without bringing anything new;
- Weak script: the film's plot was superficial, predictable or not very engaging, with weak dialogue and flat characters;
- Weak acting: the acting was unconvincing or emotionless;
- Lack of chemistry between the characters: the chemistry between the main characters may not have been as captivating as in the original film;
- Unnecessary scenes: some sequels may have exaggerated action scenes, violence or sexual content, without value to the story.
In short, these films were poorly received because they failed to bring anything new or interesting to the franchise, leaving fans disappointed and critics unhappy.
